# Direct Payout

## Overview

The Direct Payout product enables partners to send funds directly to their consumers' bank accounts. This streamlines the disbursement process, reduces delays, and provides a seamless experience for consumers.

## Partner Steps

### 1. Register to Onboarding Completed Webhook

Use the [register webhook](/api-access/api-reference/webhooks/create-register-webhook) api to register for the Onboarding.Completed webhook. This webhook is used to communicate to the partners when the direct payout onboarding is completed.

### 2. Create consumer via API

Before partners can start onboarding, partners need to create a consumer via api \

### 3. Partners need to allow consumers to select between Card or Direct Payout

### 4. Partners need to collect consumer bank account information via plaid or manully

### 5. Create a bank account for the consumer in the Upward ecosystem

To create an account in the Upward ecosystems use the create [account API](/api-access/api-reference/accounts/create-consumer-bank-account)

### 6. Send consumer to Direct Payout component

This component uses a consumer scoped token. Partner token will not work here. \

Use the [token exchange](/api-access/api-reference/auth/create-token-exchange) api to get a new consumer token.
